Is your attendance Bronze, Silver or Gold?

We want to see all our pupils with above 96% attendance

There is a clear link between attendance and achievement. Whenever a child misses school they miss out on important learning. Regular attendance is the most important factor in a child reaching their full potential. 90% attendance actually means that you have been away from school half a day every week! If you have 90% attendance for a whole year that means that you have had nearly 4 whole weeks off school in a year! That is 19 days or 80 lessons!

How we support you to have Bronze, Silver or Gold attendance:

  • We contact parents on the first day of an absence when we have not been contacted by you first. This is usually by text message.
  • We write to you if we have any concerns over attendance and punctuality.
  • We ask for evidence of absences, especially where attendance is low.
  • We reward good and improving attendance.
  • We give weekly class bronze, silver or gold attendance certificates.
  • We give certificates to pupils who have 98%+ attendance each term
  •  We give certificates and prizes to pupils with 100% attendance.
  • Children with 100% attendance for a term are given badges.
  • Children with 100% attendance for the whole year are given medals and badges to wear on their lanyards.
  • If you have any issues that may be impacting on your child’s attendance. We will do our best to support you and find a solution to the problem.
  • The Educational Welfare Officer will get involved with persistent absentees.

What should you do?

Contact us on 0116 2512686 option1 to leave a message about an absence.

Make an appointment to see Mrs Cooper if you have any questions about attendance or you want to discuss a planned absence from school
