    Sparkenhoe Community School

Our School Council is a group of students elected by their classes (Y2 – Y6) so that the pupil voice can be heard when changing our school.

Class Council meetings are held approximately every half term in phases of the school to discuss any ideas or objectives for change. The elected Councillors bring the best ideas to School Council to be voted upon. Every term the whole school council meets with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This is an opportunity to share common goals.

The School Council manages a small budget. This is used to support our ideas and for prizes for competitions. We aim to support our school to be a healthy, happy place. School Councillors may also represent our school in external events or when showing visitors around school.

The children in Years 5 and 6 are responsible for taking minutes and leading their meetings. Children in Years 3 and 4 are beginning to lead meetings and contribute to minutes. In Key Stage 1 the children talk about issues and successes. School Council is part of being a democratic citizen of the future because ‘Together We Can!
