    Sparkenhoe Community School

Sparkenhoe is a University of Leicester Lead Provider, offering a university course to train teachers. We work with a number of schools to provide the teaching placements and teach some of the content on campus to students.

This course leads to a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

We have been successfully running this course for many years. We are currently accepting applications for our next cohort, starting in September. For more details about the course please go to the University of Leicester website or Apply for Teacher Training website and search for teacher training.
Since our first intake in 2014, many of our students have been employed in our school and those associated with us. One of the advantages of the Lead Provider is that our students truly get to know the classes and teachers they will be placed with and have the opportunity to spend time in our schools prior to the placements.

All our students have commented on the quality of the training and school experiences. They have been particularly impressed with the welcoming atmosphere in the schools, the feeling of being part of a team and the opportunities to embrace all aspects of school life.

Our mentors are highly experienced, skilled practitioners who work together with students to achieve the best results. They go above and beyond the remit of a mentor, helping students with applications, preparing for interviews and all aspects of the transition from student to ECT.
